Elsevier, a global information analysis company, released the “2021 Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” list on April 14, and Professor Jia Jianping from Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University was again on the list.
The “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” list uses Scopus, the world’s authoritative citation and index database, as the statistical source of Chinese scholars’ scientific research achievements, and analyzes the performance of Chinese scholars’ scientific research achievements, which has attracted great attention from many media and scholars around the world. The “2021 Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” includes 523 universities, enterprises and scientific research institutions, covering 10 disciplines and 84 first-level disciplines of the Ministry of Education. A total of 4,701 Chinese scholars with the most global influence in various disciplines were selected for this list, of which 243 scholars in the field of “clinical medicine” were selected. The basic data extraction of the “Highly Cited Researchers” uses the further optimized and updated Elsevier Ministry of Education first-level subject classification mapping. It makes the data of Chinese scholars’ subject affiliation and subject performance more intuitively show the academic research ecology that fits the Chinese discipline setting, and scientifically and accurately depicts the scientific research output of Chinese scholars. It provides effective help for further sorting, analysis and research of scholars’ citation performance, which is conducive to evaluating talents from multiple perspectives, and also becomes an evaluation index for various university and subject rankings.
The meaning of Elsevier’s list of highly cited scholars is that the total number of citations of papers published by the scholar as the first author and corresponding author is at the top level among all researchers in this discipline in the country. It proves that the scholar has a high world influence in his research field, which effectively promotes the development of scientific research in this field.
